F.A.Q.

  1. How to drive a Snowscoot?
Driving a Snowscoot is not comparable to skiing or snowboarding. It's a whole new movement of the snow which resembles a mountain bike or motocross.

  2. How do you brake with the Snowscoot?
If  you need to brake from a slow or fast run you need to do a movement well decided. Similar like skiing or snowboarding you need turn the Snowscoot  crosswise to brake. Even then when you loose contact with the sole.

  3. I need experience?
To have fun with the Snowscoot you not need experience with winter sports. This does not mean that the Snowscoot it easier for skiers or snowboarders!

  4. Can i use it anywhere?
Generally the skiresorts are responsible for the
decision whether you can use their slopes with a Snowscoot. Actually we don’t have any knowledge of a areas in Europe , where you are not allowed to use a Snowscoot. There are exeptions in some areas which don’t have any permission to carry pedestrians.
Therefore you might not use their facilities. If you are
unsure you should call the ski resorts and ask, or see our useful "Spot Guide".

  5. How I’ve to behave on a ski lift ?
You can use any type of chair lifts with  plates or
anchors. Even in the cabins you won’t have big problems. You’ll get explanation various techniques during a course.

The Snowscoot functions after the ability and
technique on all kind of pists. Even on mogul pists and fun parks are adequat for a Snowscoot.

  7. Which quality of snow is the best?
Depending on your ability you can run on frosted
ore freshly snowed pists. But the biggest fun you’ll have on fresh snow.

  8. Where can I rent a Snowscoot?
Until now there are little places where
you can rent a Snowscoot or take courses. TICINOFREERIDE has to let 8 Snowscoots to conditions interesting.

  9. Are there Snowscoots in different sizes?
All the frames have identic geometry  and a similar
size. You can change the level of the handle. Don’t fix it to hight, otherwise it won’t clamp enough and looses stability. The tension to the front is getting to much.

  10. What is the difference of the models?
The main difference is the material of the frames.
The frames are made of aluminium or steel. There are models in titan as well. Steel is heavier than aluminium, which is giving the Snowscoot more stability. The aluminium models are lighter, there-fore more unsettled while running. The aluframes are more stiff than the steelframes. All this differences is also a question of ability and taste.

  11. Are there alway spare parts available?
All the containing parts are available. For the clients
of  TICINOFREERIDE all the parts incl. Boards are available from a seperate stock in Germany. In case of damage you’ll get immediately replacement!

  12. Can I wax the boards?
Like skis or snowboards you can wax the board of the
Snowscoots. If you let wax it in a shop or ski servicecenter, you need to take the board of  the frame because it’d be to big for a modern wax facility.

  13. What is the best way to transport a Snowscoot?
You can bend the handle easy to the side. That way it’ll
be lower. Is that still to big for the transport in the car you can remove with some screws the board or the fork. Like this you should be able to put it into the car.

  14. What is the recommended age to run a Snowscooter?
With the model especially developed for women and
children from Jykk, kids  from 7 years  may run the first drive. It depends mainly from weight an body height. from 10 years on it shouldn’t be a problem anymore.

  15. Is it dangerous to run a Snowscoot?
Running a Snowscoot is comparable with the other
winter sports, the risk is about the same (danger of injury or crash). The danger of injury thought is little less, because you won’t be tied on the Snowscoot and no over twist or over stretch can happen.

  16. What shoes should I put on?
For scooting we recommend high winter- or mountain boots
which are well isolated against the cold. Important is a good profiled shoe sole. With snowboard shoes You’re also well equipped, mostly they are to large and you’ll not be really able to stand well on the Scoot (it’ll do at a pinch).

  17. Do I need a helmet?
It’s highly recommended to wear a sports helmet on a Scoot.
Already the increasing traffic on the pists amount the danger of bad crashes, where you can be badly injured. Especially when you’ll fall down from the Scoot a helm is very important, because the Scoot can follow you. The weight of the Scoot is the biggest danger. So, put the helm on, ok? We also rent helmets.

  18. Do I need other protections?
If you need other protections depends on your ability and driving
style. For freeriders, freestyler and racers we recommend also knee- and  elbow protections. For fast downhill rides it’s better to protect also your back- and your chest.
